I would’ve done anything to keep you from being lonely

extended myself for your simple comfort,

head on bony shoulder, cheek against soft beating chest,

warming you with my flesh

self sacrificing devotion i had.

I see the undying kindness of you,

Your overflowing cup of love, of seeking love and acceptance,

and it aches me to watch it drip,

knowing I cannot,

must not,

dare not –

take a sip.
